Blind Marking of Examinations ProceduresPlease note that these procedures have not yet been revised or converted to the new format . Students sitting examinations are advised in the pre examination address by the Invigilator in Charge NOT to place their name on script books or examination papers. Students will be requested to record their student ID, desk number and unit code. At the conclusion of each examination, the attendance list is placed inside the sealed plastic bag containing the completed script books and returned to the academic or teaching department as indicated on the delivery instructions provided by the teaching department. Prior to marking, the attendance list must be removed from the script book bag and stored separately to ensure that it is not available to markers. The attendance list contains the student details:
B. Accuracy and Integrity Markers must not refer to the attendance list or any other method of identifying the student’s name during the marking process. Examination papers may be kept in order by reference to the desk number. Faculties may like to consider the following options to assist in the process of transferring marks from script books to mark sheets:
ScopeThis policy applies to all written end of semester examinations conducted by Monash University. The policy does not apply to any other assessment pieces due to practicality and cost constraints. Blind marking is not required in the following circumstances:
DefinitionsBlind Marking: Blind marking at Monash is the process where the examination script does not hold any personal information about the student other than the student identification number.
