Alternative Arrangements for Assessment Procedures

The Disability Liaison Office provides guidelines that specify the procedures that students seeking Alternative Arrangements for Assessment should follow.

Scope

These procedures for alternative arrangements for assessment apply to coursework units and or degrees.

Definition

Alternative Arrangements for Assessment: any variation in the duration, structure, format or venue of an academic assessment. Students with disabilities, chronic medical conditions and short term injuries can request alternative arrangements for academic assessments such as extended/alternative times, written examinations, class tests and various forms of assignments. Alternative Arrangements for Assessment differ from Special Consideration, Supplementary and Special or Deferred Examinations.

Responsibilities for Implementation

  • University wide - Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education), Disability Liaison Office
  • Faculty-wide - Associate Deans (Teaching), Heads of Department, Chief Examiners.
